EPHC Archive - Diesel Vehicle Emissions NEPM

Caution: archived content

Information previously available on the Environment Protection and Heritage Council (EPHC) website (www.ephc.gov.au) is listed in this archive. These pages are no longer being maintained or updated but remain here as an archive for your information.

What's currently happening

For current information about the Diesel Vehicle Emissions NEPM see:

  • National Environment Protection (Diesel Vehicle Emissions) Measure

Motor vehicles, particularly those with diesel engines, are significantly disproportionate contributors of fine particle pollution and oxides of nitrogen. The National Environment Protection (Diesel Vehicle Emissions) Measure has been developed to complement other measures to reduce the impact of emissions from diesel vehicles such as: new vehicle emission standards, improved fuel quality and travel demand management.

Variation to the NEPM 2009

In May 2009 the NEPC made a minor variation to the NEPM to incorporate developments in diesel vehicle emissions technologies and experience gained in implmenting the NEPM.
